Ynys Seamaide at The Spirit Pool – Updates

The Elemental Speaks at the Spirit Pool

Gathering at the Spirit Pool

As the veil to the Fairelands lifted, the Envoys of Seamaide arrived at the Spirit Pool. They were joined by citizens from other realms. After giving elemental sacrifices to the Gods in a ritual led by the Lord of the Wylds, the Envoys sought guidance. An earth elemental answered their call, and with the help of travelers who were able to speak to the stone creature, it gave the group the following dire warning:

Elemental Appears

“The taint,” it said slowly, its voice sounding like stone being dragged across stone, “is a threat to all lands. Already it makes its way even to the waters here. You have little time.” It looked over its shoulder for a brief moment. “Seek out that of earth, wind, fire, and water. Work them together as one, for only their energies together can heal the taint. Be quick. In ten days, the taint will spread. It will spread to more than your small isle. And beware. There are those who seek to stop you in your task.”

“Heal the waters; heal the lands,” he said as he began to dissipate into dust, the magics that sent him to the Spirit Pool now waning. “Ten days.”

The Cure Takes Teamwork

The Envoys of Seamaide convened at the Spirit Pool for a second time.  This time, they were joined by citizens from other lands who offered suggestions for their quest to find artifacts of air, fire, water, and earth.

Perhaps the taint that threatens the world has softened some hearts, for the citizens of Seamaide seemed more tolerant, more caring.  After much discussion among the Envoys and Fairelands citizens, the group split into teams, each heading off on its own to focus its investigation on a single element.

As the Envoys scattered in the four directions, their whispered needs carried on the winds, “Come, all citizens of the Fairelands.  Choose an element and be part of a team that works to find the cure.”

Saturday April 22nd
An Evil Lurks in the Skies

Today, the Envoys of Seamaide reconvened at the Spirit Pool and met up with more citizens from their realm who had just arrived.

The Merfolk and other water creatures were particularly concerned about the taint in the water in Seamaide, going so far as to call it poison.  The tales the new arrivals shared were terrifying: Seamaide and the world, just as the golum had predicted, were being killed by the taint.  The group quickly assembled all they could find in the Fairelands and asked for their expertise.

As they continued to learn about the taint and how they might stop it, the group couldn’t help but notice that something dark and BIG loomed overhead.  The Envoys were relieved that one of their own…

…was there to help protect them from the evil circling overhead.

As the morning turned to high noon, the Envoys of Seamaide, once again with the help of kind Fairefolke, continued their quest to find artifacts for all of the elements.

Their gazes never shifted far from the evil that seemed to watch them from its territory in the skies over the Spirit Pool.

Sunday April 23nd
Clues in the Quest Revealed!

Today, the Envoys of Seamaide gathered for a fourth time at the Spirit Pool.

The Gathering

The group took notice that all are becoming more and more weary. Yesterday, after investigating what may well be a strong clue in one of the pools, one of the Envoys known as Rue showed signs of breathing distress and today seemed to have developed very itchy skin.

The Lord of the Wyldes felt certain Rue had discovered an important Clue.

Other Envoys also were showing signs of fatigue and nervousness, even unsettling dreams. A traveler from another realm rendered aid in trying to resolve what two clues may be: one that should lead to an artifact of Earth and the other that should lead to an artifact of Fire.

Kurzar Lykaios and Rue

The Envoys have set out to search the vast structures of the Spirit Pool. They are certain that therein lie the artifacts.

They have spread the word that all Fairegoers who are quick of wit should come as soon as possible to help them unravel the clues and find the artifacts. The cure depends on the help of everyone in the Faire Lands.

The Quest Clues Have Been Revealed!!

For the fifth day in a row, the Envoys of Seamaide met at the Spirit Pool. The group noted that their comrades were looking ever more weary. Yet, there was cause for hope this day, as they were certain they’d received two reliable clues to the location of the earth and fire artifacts.

Once again, the mer female Rue had taken to the water and had come back with a report that she had found something of interest, a spot she believed might hold an artifact. Sadly, the woman could not remain underwater long enough to make out clearly what might be in the spot she’d located. The taint was just too overwhelming for her. She was forced to seek shelter for the night to recover from the effects of the poisoning.

The Envoys were joined by a beautiful creature with wings. After listening to the tales the Envoys told, she took to the air in search of the artifact of air, for which the Envoys believe Laila is receiving guidance from the voices in her head.

Winged Creature

By evening’s end, the Envoys held out more hope of finding the artifacts, for they had come narrowed down their search to the four clues they received.

Water: “In the old entrance of Tir fo Thuinn, what you seek is hidden away.”

Fire: “Seek the Goddess; she will light the way.”

Earth: “Seek the path to the Tuatha De Danann, but beware of leannan sidhe!”

Air: “It is always in the hands of the Goddess.”

The Envoys felt certain that all of the artifacts would be located in the area of the Spirit Pool, and they have sent out their comrades in search of the artifacts. Join them and help the Envoys find the cure for the taint spreading across the lands. There are only five days left to save the world!

((Note: Search the Spirit Pool sim for the artifacts with the Seamaide roleplay symbol on them. Temptation And Threats From The Taint

Yesterday, the Envoys of Seamaide and their foreign aides were heartened by the revelation of clues that would lead them to the artifacts of the elements. Even more encouraging was the discovery of one of the artifacts: the artifact of Air, found by a winged female from another land.

Growing Group

As they gathered at the Spirit Pool for the seventh day since the Golum told them they had ten days to rid the world of the taint, the Envoys shared information with concerned beings from other lands. Three such beings volunteered to dive into the water in search of the artifact of Water, yet undiscovered. Such bravery was appreciated by the Envoys, who tried their best to warn the volunteers of the dangers they would face. The brave volunteers were undaunted by the reports of illness and other tolls the tainted water had taken on those who had attempted to navigate it in search of the artifact of Water.

And then the mood of spirit and cooperation was … tainted … by a hooded figure who told the group that the Femorians would escape their cages in three more days and rise to destroy the world. This dark figure taunted the Envoys, speaking ill of the Heart Tree, the very soul of Seamaide.

Hooded Male

The mood of the Envoys and aides was darkened by the hooded male, but they banded together, all aware they were forbidden to spill blood at the Spirit Pool, which was overseen by the Goddess herself.

And yet the hooded male continued to taunt the group until the appearance of the Spirit Wolf of Seamaide, a creature revered by all citizens of the land. It sniffed of the hooded stranger and the wolf’s swishing tail and launch-ready position told the interloper that he was little more than prey to her.

The hooded male escaped, but the Spirit Wolf followed in pursuit. The Envoys dismissed the incident and continued the search with the help of the foreign aides. Not long thereafter, a shout was heard across the land, “One step closer to cleansing!” ((Attributed to Ktahdn Vesuvino))

With three days left, the Envoys of Seamaide and concerned citizens of other lands have located two of the four artifacts of the elements. They have not given up hope that they will succeed. Help them find the cure for the Taint!

((Note: Search the Spirit Pool sim for the artifacts with the Seamaide roleplay symbol on them. If you find all four and RP at one of the remaining scheduled Seamaide RPs at Fantasy Faire—check the schedule!–to demonstrate you have the items before the grand finale on the 29th, you will qualify for a special, unique gift only for those who participate in the Seamaide quest and RP.))

Thursday April 27th
The Ritual Yields an Answer…And a God!

The Envoys of Seamaide made their way to the Spirit Pool once more.

What next

They arrived to news that an aide from another land had found the last two elemental artifacts. Having all four in hand, the old Druid cast a circle and called on a beautiful female to play the ritual music on her flute.

As the music began, the Lord of the Wyldes and other Envoys, plus a foreign dignitary, took positions at the four cardinal points of the circle, each in front of one of the elemental crystals.

The Tavern Mistress Elayne called upon the spirits of the Air.

The Harbour Mistress Laila called upon the spirits of the Water.

The foreigner who had aided them many times thus far, the male known as Ktahdn, called upon the spirits of the Earth.

And the Lord of the Wyldes himself called upon the spirits of Fire to help them.

After an exhausting period of chanting and flute playing, the God of the Sea, Lugh himself, appeared in the middle of the circle.

With his aid, the Envoys were able to decipher the next step in their quest and identify the person who would be called upon to complete the task. The child Cairann was instructed by Lugh:

“Cast the stone with all your might at the forehead of the dragon, little one. And when it falls, the rest of you must cut its heart from its chest and place it upon the circle where I stand before the heart stops beating. Then you may perform the ritual upon this scroll to cleanse it. Only then may it be returned to where it belongs to heal that which is unclean. But be warned there is a price.”

The Final Plan

Yesterday, the Envoys of Seamaide used the found artifacts of the elements to conjure the God of the Sea, who told them what would be required to defeat the circling dragon and to use its heart to turn back the Taint and save the world from sure destruction.

With a mere day and a half left before the prophecy of the Gollum comes true and the Taint destroys the cage holding the Femorians, the Envoys and those from other lands who have come in search of answers met at the Spirit Pool.  On this day, they discussed the risk that the child would face when she used Lugh’s slingstone to slay the dragon.  This day, they used not their brawn but their brains as all gave ideas for distracting the dragon and accomplishing the task Lugh had revealed to them.  Some questioned the wisdom of the ideas put forth, and doubt crept into the minds of some, but in the end, the group agreed they could not give up.

Before the Envoys and the foreigners left the Spirit Pool, each seeking repose until the morrow to prepare for the final task, they agreed on a plan and set the time for reconvening at 10am SLT, Saturday, April 29th.  The Envoys need the citizens of all realms to help them destroy the creeping darkness that has spread across the world.

Saturday April 29th
The Great Healing

Having made their plan for slaying the dragon the day before, the Envoys of Seamaide gathered one last time at the Spirit Pool, where they were joined by citizens from many realms. As suspected, the Black Dragon circling overhead was slowly descending, as if he knew a battle was about to commence and was taking a position of advantage.

The young girl, Cairann, bravely stepped forward to carry through the task she had been chosen to perform: slay the dragon with Lugh’s slingstone. Almost all present (there was one creature who seemed to delight in the struggle of the others) expressed concern for the child, and it was decided that they would do their best to lure the dragon closer and then distract it so that the child might approach it without becoming its next meal. First one and then another began to dance, taunting the dragon. The official record would claim the dance was begun by Cessi or maybe Lord Vasa or the mother of the child, Lady Aine, or the child’s aunt, the Tavern Mistress.

One of the winged creatures from Seamaide took to the skies and further taunted the dragon. *Snapshot_Dragon!* And little by little, Cairann made her way forward until she was standing almost directly below the ominous dragon. Though they danced, the Envoys and other dignitaries at the Spirit Pool held their breath as the sweet child drew back and hurled the slingstone at the dragon.

Snapshot _ Fling!

It will ever be known that the child was pure of heart, for her fling was true, and the dragon plummeted to the ground, smashing the stone where it landed. She retreated to the safety of her mother’s arms, and all present were relieved that she had not been harmed.

Snapshot _ Most Lovely Lady Ever

With surgical precision, the winged creature from Seamaide carved out the heart of the beast and gave it to the Lord of the Wyldes, who used the symbol of aether to begin the ritual of healing.

Four volunteers held the elemental crystals at the cardinal points in a circle around the aether, and others in attendance held crystals they, too, had discovered.

All focused on combining their energies into a stream of cleansing power, which grew stronger with each being who added energy to it. Pulses of light shot up from the crystals into the skies, sending sparks in all directions to carry the healing energy of the cleansed Spirit Pool to all the corners of the world. And in the release of energy, all who were present knew that the battle against the Taint, what would be known always as The Great Healing, had turned in their favor because of persistence and determination in finding the crystals, bravery in the face of overwhelming odds, mutual concern and cooperation among diverse groups, and compassionate generosity.

They Envoys said their sad goodbyes to those who had aided them and hoped they would see them again under more favorable circumstances. After the ships of Seamaide transported the Envoys to the island, along with the elemental crystals, the citizens placed the crystals on the cardinal points of the island as a reminder that the Envoys and all who gave of themselves COULD HELP FIND THE CURE.
