Fantasy Faire and Radio Riel are pleased to announce that their collaborative project Fantasy Faire Radio has become a year-round, full-time Internet radio service from Saturday, April 1, 2017.
Fantasy Faire and Radio Riel have worked together since 2014 to bring Fantasy Faire Radio to life every Spring as part of the annual celebration in the virtual world of Second Life that raises money for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.
This year, Fantasy Faire Radio by Radio Riel will continue broadcasting after the end of the Faire, becoming a full-time Internet radio service that will serve as a connection to the Faire community all year round. The service will be maintained via sponsorship: read more about becoming an FFR Sponsor.
Fantasy Faire Radio features a mix of Renaissance, New Age, Classical and Fantasy Soundtrack music. Listeners can tune in by opening http://fantasyfaire.radioriel.org in an Internet media player: the service will also be listed in the TuneIn.com curated internet radio directory.
Radio Riel was founded in Second Life on June 1, 2007 with the goal of providing a soundtrack of Classical and English Folk music to the Neo-Victorian and Steampunk communities. The station has since grown to six separate audio streams, each with its own style and genre of music and has thousands of listeners worldwide.
Celebrating its ninth year, Fantasy Faire is the largest gathering of fantasy designers, enthusiasts, roleplayers and performers in the virtual world. With DJ parties, auctions, hunts, a Literary Festival, dance and theater performances, fantasy art, roleplaying events, and the most diverse display of fantasy paraphernalia on the grid, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
From Thursday, April 20 to Sunday April 30 thousands of visitors will come to experience the magic of the Fairelands, joining a dynamic fantasy community to raise funds to support the American Cancer Society’s vision of a world without cancer. Relay For Life of Second Life has raised over $3.6 million USD over the past decade, with Fantasy Faire contributing almost $200,000 USD to that amount.
